Sarah Mohanavilasam

CSW, Associate Therapist

Sarah Mohanavilasam (she/her) is a Certified Social Worker who blends evidence-based therapy with a deep appreciation for nature and human resilience. Originally from the Ozarks of Missouri, Sarah moved to Utah for work and quickly fell in love with the Wasatch Mountains. Her connection to the outdoors continues to shape her therapeutic approach today.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and a Master of Social Work—both from the University of Utah. Her background includes over a decade of experience working with youth and adults in outdoor settings, including rock climbing, backpacking, wilderness therapy, and ski instruction. These early experiences ignited a lasting passion for supporting individuals through life’s most challenging transitions.

Sarah specializes in therapy for teens, young adults, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and relationship difficulties. She draws from a range of evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and motivational interviewing. Her approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and rooted in the belief that every individual holds the wisdom to lead their own healing journey.

Prior to private practice, Sarah worked as a school social worker supporting students from elementary through high school and provided care to refugee individuals and families through a resettlement agency. She brings a deep understanding of cultural humility, complex family dynamics, and developmental stages to her clinical work.

Outside the therapy room, Sarah finds joy in skiing, hiking, biking, and gardening. She lives in Salt Lake City with her husband and their two beloved dogs, Augie and Noelle.

Sarah is currently accepting new clients for therapy in Salt Lake City and online throughout Utah. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, she offers a warm, collaborative space to heal, grow, and move forward with clarity.
