Derek Nutter
CSW, Associate Therapist
Derek Nutter, CSW, is a therapist whose path to this work is anything but conventional. After more than 15 years in Operations and Product Management, Derek made a purposeful transition into the mental health field, bringing with him a grounded, real-world perspective that shapes how he shows up for every client. He holds degrees from the University of Utah and Ohio State University.
Derek's therapeutic approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and yoga as integrated paths to healing. He works with clients to recognize and soften the grip of unhelpful thoughts, reconnect with what truly matters to them, and use their breath and body as steady allies in the work.
Derek supports adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity exploration, career change, and trauma. His style is collaborative, non-judgmental, and client-centered, grounded in the belief that real healing happens when people are met with honesty, curiosity, and care.
Therapy has been a life-changing part of Derek's own journey, and that experience is at the heart of his passion for this work. He holds a deep belief that the solutions to your challenges and the peace you seek already reside within you. Sometimes you just need a little support and effort to see and access them.
Outside of the office, Derek is happiest outdoors. He's a longtime yoga practitioner, an unapologetic fan of Utah's national parks, and an avid traveler who loves stepping into new places, cultures, and conversations. He shares his life with his wife, Aubrie, and the animals he loves.
